In collaboration with Dr. R. Christopher Swanson from Johns Hopkins University, I made a video series on authentic assessment practice in early childhood.
The videos were created for Maryland Learning Links, and include powerful tools for early educators who want to push back against high-stakes testing.
My hope is that you find the videos to be useful in your own assessment practices, whether you prepare/support others to engage in authentic assessment, or if you work in the trenches, and need help remembering that being a play partner, is the best way to learn about what children know and can do.
1. In this video I share the 101 things you can asses using blocks. Click here to access a free infographic, which contains the 101 things.
2. How often does assessment look like play and how often does it look like a job performance review? Use these 3 tools to more effectively learn what children know and can do.
3. Three ways to deliver feedback that will create a classroom environment that supports the whole child.
4. In this video, I explore four simple things you can do today, to strengthen your assessment practices.
