Description
Children who swear may do so to gain attention, control a situation, or simply express emotion in a way in which they have heard from others. In other words, children learn by imitating behavior and communication that is repeatedly modeled and even things they hear once or twice.
Experimentation is never a bad thing!
It is how we react that can make the child swear more and with greater intensity. How we react also helps children understand that swearing is not a manner of communication that is typically acceptable.
Swearing Sheng is one of six video tutorials designed for parents.
Each video in the series helps you gain a better understanding of how to “teach before the peak”, “calm the storm of emotions”, and “stay on the blue train of regulation.”
The video tutorials also help with the home-school-connection. Meaning, early educators, child-care providers, and other loving adults can learn along with you. This is important, because we all know, when the same techniques are used with consistency, children feel safe and are able to thrive.
